National Coffee Day at CASS

This National Coffee Day called for more than our usual cup of coffee. We brought in a new La Marzocco Espresso Machine and an expert to show us how it’s done. Along the way, we got a familiar reminder: when quality matters, so do the details.

Rather than simply learning as we went, we wanted our team to understand how to use the new machine properly. We invited William Inman Jr., a barista at local Highwire Coffee Roasters (and part of the extended CASS family), to spend time training our team and to walk us through the craft behind a great cup of coffee.

From dialing in espresso and measuring the right dose to steaming milk at the proper temperature, William showed our team how seemingly small details work together to create a consistent, high-quality result. As he shared during the training, the difference between an okay drink and an excellent one often comes down to the quality of what goes in, care throughout the process, and consistency in how it all comes together.

Those ideas resonated with us.

At CASS, care in the process, consistency in the result, proper training, and attention to detail are principles we practice every day in our pursuit of excellence. We know that what we put into a process matters, and so does how we manage every step that follows. Whether recycling end-of-life metals, manufacturing 100% recycled aluminum, or learning the craft behind a great cup of coffee, having the right equipment is only part of the equation. The right inputs, knowledge, training, and care throughout the process are what turn them into a quality result.

And, of course, good coffee is meant to be enjoyed. As William shared, coffee can be a way to connect, communicate, and bring people together. Our new machine gives our team another opportunity to do just that while enjoying a pretty good cup of coffee along the way.
