Earth Month Spotlight: The “Impossible Trail”

To celebrate Earth Month, we’re shining a light on a remarkable local achievement that echoes our mission at CASS: the Tahoe East Shore Trail, often called the Impossible Trail.

This awe-inspiring, 3-mile paved path stretches from Incline Village to Sand Harbor in North Lake Tahoe, winding along the shoreline with dramatic views, public access to hidden beaches, and a story rooted in environmental care. Originally thought to be too challenging to build, the trail was completed thanks to an extraordinary effort between government agencies, engineers, and local conservationists—proving that sustainable infrastructure is always worth the effort.

At CASS, we admire these kinds of projects because they represent what we strive for every day in our work: long-term thinking, environmental responsibility, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Just as the East Shore Trail preserves the beauty of Lake Tahoe, our chlorine-free, closed-loop metal recycling ensures we’re preserving the value of materials—without harming the planet.

This Earth Month, let’s remember that sustainability is also about protecting the places that inspire us. Want to visit? The trail begins at the Tunnel Creek Parking Area: 1115 Tunnel Creek Rd, Incline Village, NV 89451
